Tour Tasting Braai evening

Weekly we have a Tour Tasting Braai evening around the open fire by the big swimming pool. A historic wine tour around the grounds of De Leeuwenhof will start around 18h00 or if a different time has been agreed upon, management will inform you in advance. After this we will enjoy a tasting of the different wines that De Leeuwenhof has collected from various farms in our area. The main part of a Traditional South African Braai is of course the sitting around the fire, with your legs up on the ledge and staring into the flames, while having a delicious glass of wine and good conversation. The Braai is served Buffet style, but this will be explained to you on the evening ** The Braai can only be arranged for a minimum of 6 persons. ** Children are welcome but will be considered and Adult unless discussed with management beforehand.

Information & History about De Leeuwenhof Estate
"De Leeuwenhof Estate", established in 1698 is now about 12 ha in total. Situated in the Klein Drakenstein area it was previously called Palmiet Vlei and issued in 1694 to a french/dutch Hugenot called Jean Du Bois for his work for the VOC, the first Dutch multinational company in the world. The main buildings as well as the farm part itself, have been fully restored and an old barn and old stables have been upgraded to a 4-star guest facility in 2008 and recently beginning 2013. As the estate holds only an exclusive number of 10 rooms, 4 (self catering) one-bedroom luxury cottages and two apartments as well as a seasonal restaurant and two real swimming pools, one finds himself in a quiet and exclusive setting and even the most spoiled traveler will find all his needs at " De Leeuwenhof". Drawn by adventure and driven by a quest to seek new boundaries, the nowadays owners can tell from their own experience of how one can fall in love with this ancient part of South Africa, and how one feels linked to the European ancestors who planted the roots for today's society. On the farm there are 3500 fruit trees which are hand-picked from March until September on a daily basis, and in January and February the delicate wines are harvested. Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cape-Riesling vineyards can be found on the farm and when asked for, every visitor gets to attend a private tour by the farmer and if one wishes one gets to ride an old tractor. Most people really like the peace and quietness on the farm, and as we see many bird and animal life around the premises, animal and bird lovers will not be disappointed.
